Hello!
My name is Kai Watkins, I’m a student whose home school is Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I’m majoring in International Studies, my reasoning for this was that I love to travel and see new things, so I.S. seemed like a good fit. Little did I know the horrors of Econ and Poli-Sci that were to await me..
But, the good thing to come out of this is I have many opportunities to travel *and* study through the SFU International Program! This Fall 2009 term I have flown to Morocco to attend Al Akhawayn University, where I intend to take advantage of free wireless, do laundry, use as a home base for trips around Morocco and the Med, and occasionally study.
My hometown is Bowen Island, the best little island on earth, which I miss immensely. Time (island time, which runs at approx. 7/10ths of regular time) is spent either working three jobs, at the beach, at the lake, at the cafe, or bugging around the island.
Love and Peace.
Wicked blog, Kai. The tannery sounds amazing. It’s awesome to have a way to keep up with you and your adventures.
As a Aoroccan, i’m so curious and interested on reading articles written by Non-Moroccans about Morocco and how they perceive life here….i really encourage you to write as much articles about you adventures here as you can..
good luck on that.

Hi Kai,
I’m an archaeology major at SFU. I’m hoping to have a career specializing in the archaeology of the Near East which means I’ll probably have to learn Arabic. Or at least become conversationally familiar with it. If you get any tips on how to learn it while you’re out there let me know!
cheers,
Mike
